Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity – Senior Transport Planner – Public Transport

The Senior Transport Planner will play a pivotal part in the planning of multi-modal services in the future Auckland public transport network. They will contribute their transport expertise and proven delivery experience in multi-modal service planning to shape Auckland’s public transport services in the short- to medium- term horizon, in direct alignment with AT’s strategic plans and priorities. In particular, they will help shape AT’s delivery of PT network that helps grow patronage, aligns with strategic objectives and regional transport and land use policies.

Key Tasks will include but will not be limited to:

  • Lead tasks on service network development for RPTP inputs and three-year funding cycles.
  • Seek new ways to improve processes, identify opportunities to introduce innovation, gather PT network intel for strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Network Planning, Service Change Planning, Transport Investment, Auckland Forecasting Centre and other teams and stakeholders to deliver best transport outcomes.
  • Develop and review business cases related to medium term public transport service specification, rapid transit network development, shared mobility, and supporting initiatives.
  • Contribute service specification and shared mobility subject matter expertise to key AT strategies and policies including the Regional Public Transport Plan, City Centre Bus Plan, and Auckland Rapid Transit Pathway.
  • Work with key stakeholders and partners to develop new measures and methods to monitor patronage, usage, operator performance, and intervention/uplift triggers across the public transport service network.

  • A degree qualification or equivalent is required in a relevant discipline (transport, urban planning, engineering, etc).
  • Post graduate qualifications in planning, transport engineering, economics, or other relevant analytic field/s.
  • Preferably a minimum of five years’ experience in transport planning, with a focus on public transport network planning.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment.
  • Experience in developing public transport business cases.

Desired:

  • Experience in business cases or transport planning studies.
  • Relevant project management or community engagement experience
  • Experience in data analytics.
  • Experience in land use and transport integration projects
