We do this by designing, building and managing mobile sites across the country for telecommunications providers (like Spark and 2degrees) to expand their coverage efficiently and sustainably. Our tower portfolio of 2,500 covers Cape Reinga to Bluff and is the largest in New Zealand.
Kiwis’ mobile data use has increased dramatically in recent years and demand for mobile services continues to grow. The Connexa team is focused on ensuring Aotearoa is keeping up with this increasing demand, both today and into the future, by building an additional 800 towers over the next eight years to support the required growth in coverage and capacity.
To help us achieve this, we’re looking for a Commercial Manager to take ownership of supplier and partner governance, lead key commercial negotiations, and bring clear, pragmatic advice to senior leaders as we expand our national tower portfolio.
This is a stand alone senior role with real autonomy and visibility across the Executive Leadership Team with opportunity to shape supplier management, governance and reporting as Connexa evolves its operating model. You will be joining a high performing, purpose led team working with high-impact infrastructure that improves mobile coverage and capacity nationwide, therefore enabling a more connected Aotearoa.
Key responsibilities
- Managing supplier and partner relationships, strategic governance
- Interfacing with suppliers and business to agree statements of work for projects
- Enhancing supporting tools, policies, processes, and reporting
- Identifying and mitigating supply risks
- Interpreting and drafting commercial contracts based on business requirements
- Leading and/or contributing to negotiations and dispute resolution
- Setting and measuring SLAs and developing service improvement plans
- Designing and delivering cost management and compliance outcome
- Feeding supplier, partner and category innovation back into the business
- Leading other strategic projects and business improvement initiatives as required
Requirements
- Supplier management and procurement experience within telco, engineering, or infrastructure
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to drive optimal business outcomes
- Proven capability to analyse agreements and develop effective negotiation and service improvement strategies
- Skilled in managing data and translating it into actionable insights
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, with the ability to balance competing priorities
- Clear and effective communication across all formats, simplifying complex information
- Collaborative approach, working effectively across teams while valuing diversity and inclusion
- Growth mindset, embracing challenges, persisting through setbacks, and continuously learning from experience
