Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role
We have an opportunity within our organisation for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team, providing high-level administrative support to the Rates team at Toi Moana | Bay of Plenty Regional Council.
In this fixed-term role, you’ll contribute to the delivery of efficient and effective rates administration and customer service, supporting the critical functions that underpin our rates collection processes.
Reporting to the Rates Engagement Team Leader, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative and customer support to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a responsive and customer-focused service.
As part of the Rates team, your responsibilities will include:
- Assist the Rates Team with processing and responding to customer requests
- Maintaining accurate ratepayer data in the Rating Information Database
- Assisting ratepayers in setting up payment plan arrangements
- Assist with daily bank receipting tasks.
- Undertaking necessary administration tasks as assigned.
Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience
We are seeking an experienced administrator who can juggle many competing priorities at once and take it all in their stride. Time management and having an organised approach to work will be second nature to you. You will be a clear communicator, have great attention to detail and be a quick learner. You will also have:
- NCEA level 3 or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Outstanding customer service skills
- IT savvy and able to work with databases
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
- A high level of communication skills (both written and oral)
- A “can-do” attitude and ability to problem solve.

This position can be based in any one of our three offices, Tauranga, Whakatāne or Rotorua, so we are flexible to suit the right candidate.
