Project Manager - Capital Works

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a Project Manager to work with Downer's Three Waters team located Auckland NZ.

The opportunity

Due to success and growth Downer are seeking a Project Manager to join their Energy & Utilities team working within the Three Waters Division. An excellent stage to come and join the company to fully develop and grow the business further for our Auckland region.

What you'll do

• Work with the key people on identifying engineering solutions, scoping, methodology, estimating, planning, programming and delivering projects
• Set parameters, direction, outcomes and requirements to the team / subcontractors undertaking the works such that it meets / exceeds the requirements, specification and expectations of both Downer and the Client
• Take overall responsibility for sites and areas where your projects are being undertaken including quality of work, appearance, cleanliness, compliance, and Health and Safety
• Ensure regular reporting, record keeping and quality controls are carried out
• Drive strong commercial outcomes including cost control, forecasting, reporting and claims management
• Build, and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients based on trust, integrity and open communication
• Balance competing priorities, demonstrating excellent risk management and strategic decision making
• Manage operations to achieve a superior level of safety, environmental and quality performance
• In conjunction with the Site Supervisor, Site Engineer and the Zero Harm Manager/ Advisor, promote safe and environmentally sound working practices and a culture of safe and responsible behaviors and attitudes, ensuring safety and environmental initiatives and achievements are publicised and rewarded

What we're looking for

• Relevant engineering and/or project, construction or civil management qualifications
• A minimum of five years Three Waters construction project experience (essential)
• Proven experience within a contracting environment
• Strong project delivery expertise, including scoping, costing, planning and execution
• Demonstrated commitment to Zero Harm and HSEQ leadership
• Tendering exposure for new works (beneficial)
• Broad understanding of construction/civil engineering practices, standards, compliance and financial controls
• A collaborative team player who actively contributes to shared goals
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong prioritisation and time management capability
• Highly organised, efficient and deadline driven
• Strong computer literacy
• Ability to operate effectively in a busy, dynamic environment with sound judgement and professionalism
