Archway is supporting the recruitment process for an well known private sector organisation that is looking for a new Corporate Accountant to join their team. The business is operationally focused, fast‑moving and commercially driven, with finance playing a hands‑on role alongside operational stakeholders.
The role
Responsibilities
This is a broad corporate accounting role that will suit someone who enjoys being close to the detail and contributing across a wide range of accounting activities. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with experienced accountants, you will take responsibility for core month‑end processes, financial reporting, tax compliance and fixed asset accounting. The role also offers exposure to budgeting, forecasting, analysis and ongoing process improvement initiatives. This is not a narrow or siloed position. You will be expected to roll your sleeves up, support transactional teams when required and work closely with non‑finance stakeholders across the business. Key responsibilities include:
- Month‑end close activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation and analysis of monthly financial results and variance analysis
- GST and FBT returns, plus support with year‑end reporting and audit processes
- Management of a large and complex fixed asset register including depreciation and reconciliations
- Support with budgets, forecasts and ad‑hoc financial analysis
- Fuel cost analysis and monthly adjustment calculations
- Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions when required
- Contributing to finance systems optimisation and process improvement
About you
Role
You will be someone who enjoys a hands‑on corporate accounting role and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment. You are confident dealing with ambiguity, can communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders and are willing to pitch in where needed. You will ideally bring:
- Strong Excel capability including pivot tables and lookups
- Experience in month‑end and core accounting processes
- A collaborative, practical approach with strong communication skills
- CA qualification or progress towards completion is advantageous but not essential
- Exposure to commercial accounting, professional services or complex organisations
