He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role:

In this role, you’ll walk alongside Rangatahi (Youth) as they build confidence, develop life skills, strengthen community connections, and take meaningful steps toward independence. Your presence, consistency and encouragement will help create safety, stability and hope.

Working collaboratively with our clinical team, you’ll help ensure Rangatahi are supported to thrive, not just today, but into the future.

This role would be perfect for Postgraduate Social Sciences students looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in the mental health sector while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

• Permanent Part-Time (28 hours per week)

• Permanent Part-Time (16 hours per week)

What you'll be doing

  • Building genuine, respectful relationships with Rangatahi and their whānau
  • Supporting day-to-day activities aligned to individual goals, safety and risk plans
  • Encouraging and supporting Rangatahi to identify and achieve meaningful goals
  • Contributing ideas and insights in team hui
  • Ensuring documentation is completed with care and professionalism.

You are positive, grounded and adaptable. You stay calm under pressure and think on your feet. Most importantly, you hold a deep belief in people’s ability to grow and create change.

You build strong professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries. You bring cultural awareness, compassion and a genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice.

Ideally you will bring

  • Experience in a similar support role
  • A Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Mental Health and Addiction
  • A current First Aid Certificate including CPR (or willingness to obtain)
  • A Full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Eligibility to work in Aotearoa New Zealand
