We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join us on Takitimu North Link based in Tauranga/Te Puna.

Project: The Takitimu North Link Stage 1 project will provide a four lane inter-regional connection between the existing SH2 from near Loop Road, Te Puna in the west, to SH29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road in the east, and includes an on-ramp from Fifteenth Avenue to the SH29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road. The new 6.8km long four lane highway will bypass Te Puna and Bethlehem townships, improving the efficiency and safety of the strategic network, and will support growth in the Minden area.

With strong technical capability and hands on experience in project-based quality management, you'll know how to turn standards into action by being a key influence towards the teams to keep quality front of mind from the start, helping reduce defects and rework while making sure systems, processes and controls are applied properly and consistently.

This is a role with real reach, where you'll work across internal teams, subcontractors, designers, clients and key stakeholders to drive better outcomes and keep delivery on track.

In a ddition to the above you will:

  • Drive quality planning, assurance and control activities across the project.
  • Monitor and analyse project performance against the agreed company Quality KPI's and business objectives accurately reporting this to the Project Team on a timely monthly basis.
  • Preparation, distribution and monitoring of quality audit schedules and ensuring completion of audit actions. Regular on site visits to all work areas across the project to ensure site quality audits.
  • Coordinate inspections, test plans, audits and quality records to support compliant delivery.
  • Partner with project teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to identify issues early and implement practical improvements.
  • Monitor non-conformances, corrective actions and close-out activities to ensure strong quality outcomes.
  • Collate appropriate records to drive final sign-off by the client, designer, and other stakeholders.

We're looking for someone with

  • A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction ideally minimum level 7 NZQF
  • Experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role on infrastructure, civil construction or major project environments.
  • Have good understanding of the Quality Manual ISO 9001:2015 standards are implemented consistently across the Project
  • Strong working knowledge of quality management systems, audit processes and compliance documentation.
  • The ability to analyse issues, improve processes and keep quality outcomes moving forward.
  • Confidence working with project teams, site teams, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • A proactive, accountable approach with strong attention to detail and follow-through.

This major infrastructure project, currently in construction, is a Road of National Significance and contributes to building a transport network that enables people and freight to move around efficiently, quickly, and safely. The project involves 3 million cubic metres of earthworks as well as the construction of 10 bridges, 19 culverts, 8 stream diversions and 7 wetlands. Fulton Hogan is constructing the project in a joint venture with HEB Construction, continuing a long and successful partnership on large projects in the Bay of Plenty.
