IT Engineer - Modern Workplace & Provisioning
DLA Piper
We are looking for an IT Engineer (Modern Workplace & Provisioning) to join our Auckland office and provide Level 2 operational engineering support across DLA Piper New Zealand. In this role, you will ensure the stable, secure, and auditable delivery of IT services within a modern, cloud-first and security-led environment.
This is a hands-on Level 2 operational engineering role within a tiered support model, sitting between service desk support and senior platform and cloud engineering. You will manage and improve endpoints and core platforms (including Microsoft 365 and Intune), carry out patching and configuration, and resolve escalated incidents. Working closely with senior engineering and security, you will help maintain service stability, reduce risk, and uphold strong operational and security standards.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Resolve escalated ServiceNow incidents and requests requiring Level 2 technical capability, including root‑cause analysis and remediation.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft Intune, including profiles, compliance policies and application deployment.
- Manage packaging and deployment of business applications and maintain version control.
- Execute patching and configuration controls for end‑user devices and supported systems, remediating exceptions as required.
- Maintain configuration hygiene, monitoring, and operational documentation to reduce support load and risk.
- Support technical elements of joiners/movers/leavers processes, ensuring thorough documentation and evidence.
- Coordinate with vendors and third‑party providers on escalations, fault resolution, and service restoration.
- Implement approved changes following agreed change management processes, ensuring evidence capture and rollback planning
- Provide Level 2 troubleshooting for meeting room and office technology, including deeper configuration issues.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to problem management and continuous improvement
About you
We are looking for someone who brings the following experience and strengths:
- Strong experience administering Microsoft environments including Microsoft 365, Teams, Intune, and identity and access fundamentals
- Demonstrated ability to manage patching, configuration, monitoring, and incident resolution within a controlled environment
- Strong written documentation and evidence discipline across tickets, change records, and knowledge articles
- Ability to work confidently within change processes and controlled environments
The below is desirable, though not essential:
- Experience in ISO 27001-aligned environments and client audit readiness
- Familiarity with legal technology platforms (e.g. iManage, Elite 3E, InterAction+)
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot enablement, data loss prevention, and information governance basics
Attributes:
- Curious, structured in your approach to problem solving, and eager to learn
- Strong people skills and professionalism when working with end users
- Able to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities, while maintaining attention to detail and quality of outcomes
- Proactive, reliable, and comfortable working with minimal supervision
- Detail-focused, organised, and disciplined, with a strong sense of accountability for completing and evidencing work
If you are detail‑focused, technically confident, and enjoy improving systems and processes while working in a collaborative team that values enthusiasm and a good sense of humour – we'd love to hear from you.
