What you’ll do
An exciting opportunity for a Performance Engineer to play a key role in optimising the performance of thermal generation assets at our iconic Huntly Power Station. This is a highly visible role where you’ll use engineering expertise, plant performance data, and operational insights to help optimise how the plant is operated from an efficiency and performance perspective.
Reporting to the Reliability Engineering Lead, you’ll focus on identifying performance improvement opportunities, analysing fuel and heat rate performance, and driving operational process improvements across the station. You’ll be responsible for monitoring and analysing plant data, identifying inefficiencies, and working collaboratively with operational and maintenance teams to develop practical improvements that enhance plant capability, flexibility, and overall performance.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical engineering knowledge with data analysis and real-world operational problem solving. You’ll have the opportunity to influence both day-to-day plant performance and longer-term asset strategy.
What you’ll need
You’re a performance-driven engineer who enjoys solving operational challenges and improving plant efficiency through data, analysis, and practical engineering solutions. You’re comfortable working in fast-paced industrial environments and collaborating with a range of technical and operational stakeholders to drive better performance outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ideally Mechanical, Process, Chemical or a related discipline
- Experience in power generation, process industry or heavy industrial environment
- Strong understanding of fuel analysis, plant efficiency, heat rates, and heat balance principles
- Experience using performance monitoring and analysis tools such as ETApro, Vista, or similar systems
