We are seeking a Legal Practice and Strategy Lead to join our leadership team on a 12 month fixed term contract and help shape the future of legal service delivery at the Te Tai Ōhanga/Treasury. This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer, legal manager or legal practice expert with at least 10 years experience to lead transformative initiatives, build organisational capability, and drive innovative legal practices.

As the Legal Practice and Strategy Lead, you will

• Collaborate with Te Puna Rōia/Legal, Treasury clients and other stakeholders to define the role of legal services and develop a modern legal practice approach.
• Provide strategic leadership to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and support lawyers to lift their focus to the most strategic and complex issues.
• Identify and deliver digital, automation, and AI solutions to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency.
• Lead the design and delivery of capability-building programmes, empowering Treasury managers and teams to confidently manage routine and low-risk legal matters.
• Create practical resources, templates, and guidance to support consistent and effective legal practice across the organisation.
• Operate at the principal level and sit on Te Puna Rōia/Legal leadership team.
• Have one direct report (the Legal Practice and Support Specialist) whose role is to support practice management within the team.
