The Finance Business Partner will

  • Partner closely with key business areas, providing trusted financial insight and advice to drive performance and informed decision-making
  • Lead the development of annual and long-term plans and regular forecasts, ensuring alignment with the Council’s strategic direction
  • Deliver sharp monthly performance analysis, translating financial results into clear insights and highlighting key drivers and variances
  • Produce concise, meaningful reporting that enables leaders to make confident, data-driven decisions
  • Champion strong financial governance by ensuring robust internal controls are maintained
  • Continuously improve and evolve financial reporting, delivering clear, relevant insights that add real value

  • Previous experience as a Finance Business Partner
  • Proven success at building relationships with key stakeholders
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in parallel, demonstrating organisation and prioritisation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance or equivalent of accounting knowledge
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance
  • CA / ACA qualified
  • Identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities

  • You’ll be part of a collaborative and high-performing Financial Planning & Reporting team, working alongside a group of Finance Business Partners who support Directorates across the Regional Council. Together, the team plays a key role in shaping financial plans, forecasts, and performance insights that drive organisational outcomes.
  • Reporting to the Manager – Financial Planning & Reporting, this role partners directly with a Directorate, providing trusted financial advice, insight, and support to influence decision-making and drive performance.
