Non-Executive Independent Director

We are seeking expressions of interest and applications for an independent director for Ahuriri Investment Management (AIM).

This governance opportunity will be suited to Hawke’s Bay based directors with a strong understanding of the Hawkes Bay ecosystem, and with a genuine commitment to see Napier city flourish.

Ahuriri Investment Management (AIM) is the independent investment entity established by Napier City Council to provide commercially focused governance and oversight of the Council’s long-term investment portfolio. AIM’s purpose is to optimise portfolio performance, support prudent stewardship and risk management, and deliver sustainable long-term returns that contribute to the financial strength and future prosperity of Napier City.

As one of three independent directors, sitting alongside one councillor appointee, your role will be to ensure effective investment governance and risk management guidance, and to help drive optimal commercial performance, corporate rigour, and sustainability of shareholder value and return.

You must be able to demonstrate a track record of professional commercial governance experience, ideally including expertise in investment governance. Experience in managing and guiding property and investment portfolios and asset and fund management decisions, as well as broader financial literacy, leadership and strategic expertise will be highly regarded. Political awareness and understanding of community ownership models and public sector accountability is important, as will be a connection and commitment to Napier city and the local community.

Proximity and availability to be in Napier to attend bi-monthly board meetings and be actively involved in the strategic guidance of AIM will be crucial.
