We’re looking for an experienced HVAC Technician to join our Auckland team, supporting Auckland Council facilities across the region. If you’re a senior technician who enjoys autonomy, variety, and working across large-scale commercial environments, this is a fantastic opportunity.
About The Role
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering planned, preventative, and reactive HVAC maintenance across a diverse portfolio of Auckland Council buildings.
This is a mobile, self-managed role where you’ll be trusted to plan your day, attend sites, and deliver high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems across commercial and industrial sites
- Conduct fault-finding and diagnostics to ensure optimal system performance
- Proactively identify and address potential issues (including refrigerant leaks)
- Maintain accurate asset registers and complete all job-related documentation
- Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Ventia professionally
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement practices
- Participate in a shared on-call roster (approximately 1 in 4 rotation)
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a senior, trade-qualified HVAC professional with strong technical capability and the ability to work independently.
Essential
- NZ Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Level 4)
- A few years post-trade experience in commercial/industrial HVAC environments
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working across diverse HVAC systems (not limited to specific brands)
- Full NZ manual driver’s licence
- Solid understanding of health & safety practices
