AK & HS Transport Limited is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Rubbish & Waste Removal Truck Driver to join our Auckland-based team. About the Role

You will be responsible for the safe collection, transportation, and disposal of rubbish, recyclable materials, and waste products across designated routes throughout the Auckland region. Working closely with dispatch and operations staff, you will help ensure services are completed efficiently while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

The role may involve early starts, weekend work when reasonably required, and operating across a variety of collection routes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Class 4 waste collection and refuse vehicles safely and efficiently

• Collect, transport, and unload rubbish, recycling, and waste materials

• Operate side loader and compactor equipment in accordance with operational procedures

• Complete pre-start, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections

• Secure and monitor loads to ensure compliance with transport regulations

• Maintain accurate logbooks, route records, and operational documentation

• Comply with all road transport, environmental, and workplace health and safety requirements

• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and site personnel

• Report vehicle faults, incidents, hazards, or maintenance requirements promptly

• Assist with waste handling, loading activities, and other general labouring duties as required

• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation standards

• Promote responsible waste and recycling practices when interacting with customers and the public

Qualifications & Skills

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Valid New Zealand Class 4 Driver Licence, or an equivalent overseas licence eligible for NZ conversion (conversion support may be provided)

• Clean driving and criminal record, with the ability to pass drug and alcohol testing

• Good understanding of New Zealand road transport regulations and logbook requirements

• Strong route planning, navigation, and time management skills

• Physically fit and capable of lifting and handling heavy materials

• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance

• Good communication skills with a professional and customer-focused attitude

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work early starts, weekends, extended hours, or overnight trips when required

• Experience operating heavy vehicles or side loader refuse trucks is advantageous but not essential

• Ability to operate dual-steer or low-entry vehicles is beneficial

• Training may be provided to suitable candidates with the right attitude and transferable skills
