Senior Speech Language Therapist

The Rehabilitation team located in Granada wing at St John of God Halswell is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech Language Therapist to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and collaborative environment, helping people with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties to achieve meaningful goals and maximise independence.

You will work alongside experienced allied health professionals, nursing staff, and medical practitioners to deliver high-quality, person-centered rehabilitation. The role offers variety, autonomy and the chance to contribute to service development withing a dynamic rehabilitation setting.

This is a full-time 12-month fixed term position covering parental leave, offering an exciting opportunity to work across several areas of rehabilitation and residential care within a supportive interdisciplinary team.

The role has several key strands including:

  • Supporting our long-term residential clients with ongoing communication and swallowing management.
  • Delivering transitional rehabilitation programmes for clients with neurological conditions.
  • Contributing to the delivery and development of our new residential traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation service.

You will work with clients presenting with a wide range of communication difficulties, cognitive-communication disorders and dysphagia, providing assessment, treatment, education and rehabilitation planning tailored to individual goals.

This is a varied and rewarding role suited to a clinician who enjoys working collaboratively, values person-centred rehabilitation and is interested in helping shape developing services. You will work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, nursing staff, rehabilitation assistants and medical teams to support clients through different stages of recovery and long-term rehabilitation.

Desired Skills And Experience

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a minimum of three years' clinical experience, including experience working with people with neurological contditions, particularly traumatic brain injury (TBI).

  • Be a New Zealand Citizen or resident or hold a current and relevant work visa.
  • Hold a current and full drivers license.
