Adventure Awaits – Will You Answer the Call?

Kia ora, outdoor lovers!

Picture this: your “office” is the breathtaking landscapes of Te Rua o te Moko / Fiordland National Park. Your days are spent walking alongside others through lush rainforest, jetboating the Whakatipu Ka Tuka / Hollyford River, and pausing to listen to birdsong echo through ancient podocarp forest. Each evening, you return together for a hot shower, good food, and shared stories at our lodges.

This isn’t just a job—it’s an opportunity to connect people with a place, its stories, and each other.

We’re looking for passionate Kaiārahi (Hiking Guides) who love bringing people on a journey—physically and culturally. You’ll guide manuhiri (guests) through the Hollyford Valley, walking in the footsteps of Māori and early European explorers, and creating moments they’ll remember for a lifetime.

About You

You’re someone who genuinely enjoys people and thrives on creating meaningful experiences. You bring:

  • A warm, welcoming personality—manaakitanga (care for others) is at the heart of what we do
  • A passion for storytelling, with strong knowledge of ecology, history, and culture, and a natural ability to connect with people and bring places to life
  • Strong tramping and/or guiding experience in Aotearoa
  • Excellent fitness and a commitment to keeping yourself and others safe
  • A collaborative, adaptable mindset—you’re at home in a team and comfortable in an ever-changing environment
  • Curiosity and respect for te ao Māori, with a willingness to learn te reo Māori and engage with Ngāi Tahu values
  • A passenger endorsement licence (or willingness to obtain one if required)

Why this role matters

You won’t just be guiding a track—you’ll be shaping how manuhiri experience this incredible place. Through your energy, care, and storytelling, you’ll create moments of awe, connection, and belonging.

Whether you’re an experienced guide or just starting out, we have both lead and co-guide roles available for the right people.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive pay and industry-leading conditions
  • All food, transport, and accommodation covered while guiding
  • In-depth, area-specific training plus outdoor First Aid certification
  • A supportive, fun, and tight-knit team in one of the world’s most spectacular locations

Sound like your kind of gig?

We review applications as they come in, so don’t wait—apply today to avoid missing out.
