Nau mai ki ASB.
At ASB, we're committed to accelerating financial progress for all New Zealanders. Join us as the Chapter Lead, Product Solutions, within ASB’s Personal Banking Product division.
Te Tūranga | The role
This is a critical leadership role and function within ASB’ Personal Banking Product Management Practice. As Chapter Lead – Product Solutions, you will lead a chapter of Product professionals skilled in Business Analysis and Requirements gathering, working across complex incidents, remediations and change.
Your primary accountability is to care for, develop, and enable your people, while ensuring consistently high-quality analysis and requirements that stand up to regulatory and business scrutiny. You must be able to influence through others and form collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with your peers and senior leadership.
This is a people leadership role first. You will provide coaching, pastoral care and clear direction to a team often operating under pressure, helping them navigate ambiguity, stakeholder complexity, and tight regulatory timelines. At the same time, you will act as a senior practitioner and escalation point, ensuring analysis and requirements are pragmatic, traceable, and fit for purpose.
You will work closely with Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Remediation and Delivery leaders to ensure your chapter is supported, well-deployed, and contributing to outcomes that matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and care for a chapter of Product Solution Managers skilled in Business Analysis and requirements gathering, with a strong focus on wellbeing, engagement, and performance
- Build a safe, supportive environment for people working in high-pressure remediation and regulatory change
- Set clear expectations for analysis and requirements quality, particularly in remediation contexts
- Provide oversight and guidance on complex or high-risk requirements, including traceability and evidencing
- Act as an escalation point for contested or unclear requirements and delivery risks
- Partner with Product, Remediation, Delivery, Technology, Risk, and Compliance to align priorities and manage demand
- Support sustainable resourcing and workload management across initiatives
- Identify capability gaps and drive coaching, mentoring, and development initiatives
- Embed consistent ways of working, tools, and standards across the chapter
- Represent the chapter with senior leaders, advocating for quality, integrity, and realistic delivery expectations
Ō pūkenga | About you
You are an experienced people leader with an exceptionally strong background in business analysis (8+ years), ideally in complex or regulated environments and have experience working in or with banking product management teams.
You care deeply about developing people and creating conditions where they can do their best work; even when the work is difficult.
You bring credibility, calmness and pragmatism. You understand the realities of remediation and regulatory change, and you know how to balance rigour with momentum. You are comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and executives and are confident holding the line on quality and sustainability when needed.
You’re equally at home coaching individuals, navigating delivery pressure, and getting into the detail when required.
You’re At Your Best When You’re
- Supporting others through pressure and uncertainty
- Improve the quality of work and outcomes the team delivers
- Coaching rather than directing, and developing the team instead of doing the work for them
- Close enough to the detail to add value without becoming the bottleneck
- Creating stability and clarity in fast moving or regulatory driven environments
- Acting as a steady and trusted presence for both your team and senior leadership
You’ll Succeed In This Role If You
- Can demonstrate significant experience (8+ years) in both business analytics and leadership
- Lead with empathy, clarity, and consistency, especially in high-pressure situations
- Take your pastoral care responsibilities seriously and actively support team wellbeing
- Have deep experience in business analysis and requirements, including remediation or regulatory work
- Bring exceptional written and verbal communication skills and are able to authentically connect with team members while confidently and succinctly engaging with executives creating shared understanding and informed decision-making.
- Can guide others through ambiguity and complexity without defaulting to over-engineering
- Are confident challenging unrealistic expectations in a constructive, credible way
- Build strong relationships across Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Remediation, Legal and Delivery
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on support when it matters
- Care about quality, integrity, and doing the right thing for our customers— not just getting things done
