We are seeking an experienced Network Inspector to join our Connect Hamilton Team in Hamilton City. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the road network through effective inspection, fault identification, and data management.
If you have a strong background in roading or infrastructure maintenance, a sharp eye for detail, and confidence using Asset & Work Manager (AWM) systems, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality transport outcomes.

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
Reporting to the Asset & Planning Manager, the Network Inspector is responsible for delivering a robust network inspection regime across carriageway and corridor assets. You'll identify and prioritise defects, recommend treatment solutions, and ensure contract requirements and performance measures are consistently achieved.
You will work closely with operational teams, asset managers, and emergency response crews, including supporting the network during extreme weather events.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of carriageway and corridor assets in line with inspection programmes
- Identify, prioritise, and monitor network defects, proposing suitable repair solutions and timeframes
- Record and manage all defects using tablets and AWM Tablet /AWM Contractor software
- Create dispatches, upload photos, and assign correct fault and asset types to support efficient remedial works
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to plan, execute, and complete maintenance activities
- Monitor fault performance and identify non-compliance, risks, and required corrective actions
- Undertake night inspections and support emergency crews during severe weather events
- Identify variations and improvement opportunities and report these to the Asset & Planning Manager
- Update, add, and maintain asset data in AWM in line with GDC / NZTA specifications
- Ensure all inspection activities meet Downer's Zero Harm, environmental, and quality standards

- Proven experience in network inspection and fault identification, ideally within roading or maintenance contracts
- Strong knowledge of maintenance intervention strategies and treatment selection
- Competency using tablets and AWM Tablets / AWM systems
- Well-developed planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- A genuine commitment to Zero Harm and leading by example in safety and compliance
