Mō te tūranga | About the role
We’re looking for a Site Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Hornby. This is a full-time, hands-on role where you’ll take care of everything from minor building repairs to general site maintenance, helping keep our yard and project sites in good shape and ready for good work. One day you might be fixing guttering or doors, the next you could be mowing lawns, trimming trees or cleaning fences. You’ll mainly be based in Hornby, with some travel to project sites around Christchurch as needed. All required tools will be provided for this role.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
- Complete minor building repairs, including work on guttering, doors and other general upkeep tasks.
- Carry out yard and site maintenance such as mowing lawns, trimming trees and cleaning fences.
- Support the presentation, safety and day-to-day functionality of the Hornby yard.
- Assist at project sites across Christchurch when needed.
- Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly to deliver work to a high standard.
- Help keep work areas tidy, organised and ready for the next job.
- Assist FH Hire team with vehicle and plant maintenance, delivery and collection.

- Previous building, handyman or general maintenance experience.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to turn their hand to a wide range of tasks.
- A proactive attitude and pride in doing good work.
- A strong focus on safety, quality and keeping things running smoothly.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A Full, Clean Class 1 driver’s licence.
- Class 4 licence and WTR endorsements are advantageous but not essential.
- Working at heights training is advantageous, but not essential.
