Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Inc. Society is seeking an experienced and values-led Marae Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the marae and support the delivery of strategic priorities. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for someone who can bring strong operational leadership, sound judgement, and a deep commitment to kaupapa Māori and tikanga-based practice.
About The Role
Reporting to the Executive Chairperson, the Marae Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the marae operates effectively, efficiently, and in a way that reflects the values and aspirations of Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri. You will provide leadership across administration, financial support, communications, systems, governance support, people leadership, and health and safety, while guiding kaimahi and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Lead marae administration, office systems, bookings, hui coordination, and event logistics.
- Oversee operational and financial processes, reporting quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support governance processes, Executive priorities, and organisational planning.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and oversight to kaimahi.
- Ensure communications, stakeholder relationships, and health and safety practices are managed effectively and appropriately.
- Model leadership grounded in tikanga and support cultural confidence across the team.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in operations management, office management, or organisational coordination across multiple functions.
- Strong people leadership capability, including setting priorities, delegating work, and supporting performance.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience working in a kaupapa Māori, marae, iwi, or community-based environment.
- Sound judgement, financial literacy, and confidence improving systems and processes.
- A commitment to te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and values-led leadership.
