Cost Estimator

Oak Investment Limited is a New Zealand-based construction and property investment company involved in residential and commercial projects. The company is seeking a Construction Cost Estimator to prepare cost estimates, tender pricing, budgeting and quotation support for upcoming construction projects.

As a Cost Estimator, you will work at least 30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities, tasks include but are not limited to:

1. Reviewing tender invitations, project drawings, specifications and scope documents

2. Analysing construction requirements and identifying project cost components

3. Calculating estimated costs for labour, materials, subcontractors, equipment and overheads

4. Preparing project quotations, tender pricing schedules and cost plans

5. Assisting management in preparing and submitting tender proposals

6. Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations

7. Preparing estimation spreadsheets, pricing breakdowns and supporting tender documentation

8. Monitoring construction market pricing and material cost fluctuations

9. Assisting with budgeting and financial forecasting for proposed projects

10. Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and project stakeholders regarding pricing and scope clarification

11. Supporting cost reviews and pricing adjustments during the tender process

12. Maintaining accurate estimation records and tender-related documentation

Applicants must have either

At least 2 years of relevant work experience. Or

A relevant NZQCF Level 5 qualification. No specific major is required if the applicant hold a Bachelor's or higher degree.

Preferred Skills

Strong numerical and analytical capability

Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

Good understanding of construction materials and project costing structures

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Ability to work under deadlines during tender periods

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost estimation software

Knowledge of New Zealand construction industry practices is advantageous
