Mō te Tūranga | About the role

Join ASB and play a key role in delivering modern, scalable technology solutions that support critical business capabilities across the organisation. As a Software Consultant, you’ll work within a highly collaborative engineering environment, contributing to the design, development, and evolution of enterprise-grade applications and integration services.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you’ll help drive technical excellence, modern development practices, and continuous improvement across the software delivery lifecycle.

In This Role, You Will

  • Design, develop, and enhance modern applications and integration services using C# and .NET
  • Deliver robust API and integration solutions using RESTful services and JSON-based architectures
  • Contribute to cloud-native engineering practices and modern software delivery approaches
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, product owners, and platform teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices using ADO or GitHub Enterprise tooling
  • Contribute to DevOps and automation initiatives that improve delivery efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Work with modern platform technologies including containers, cloud services, and event-driven architectures
  • Support operational excellence through monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement practices

This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, staying hands-on with modern technologies, and contributing to the evolution of scalable, cloud-enabled software platforms within a large enterprise environment.

You’re a highly experienced software engineering professional with a strong background in modern application development, cloud technologies, and integration engineering. With 10+ years of experience in software consulting or senior development roles, you enjoy solving complex technical problems, delivering high-quality solutions, and contributing to modern engineering practices within a collaborative environment.

You’ll Bring Strong Hands-on Experience Across

  • Advanced C# and .NET development within enterprise-scale environments
  • Modern integration development, including REST APIs, JSON, and service-based architectures
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based development and delivery practices, ideally within Azure environments
  • A proactive DevOps and automation mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and engineering efficiency
  • Experience working with modern delivery pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO) or GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES)

Ideally, You’ll Also Have Exposure To

  • Containerisation technologies and working within container-based environments
  • Kubernetes concepts and orchestration practices
  • Event streaming and messaging technologies such as Confluent Kafka
  • Distributed database technologies such as DataStax
  • Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Observability and monitoring practices across modern platforms and services
  • Additional cloud platform exposure beyond Azure, including AWS and/or GCP
