We are looking for 5 Utility Workers to join our team and support site preparation and cabling activities across a variety of projects.
About the role
As a Utility Worker, you’ll play a key role in preparing and maintaining work sites, installing electrical distribution assets, and supporting safe, efficient field operations. This role suits someone who is physically fit, enjoys varied work, and thrives in an outdoor environment.
Site Preparation & Cabling
- Identify hazards and set up safe worksites
- Excavate trenches and identify underground obstructions
- Install electrical distribution assets
- Operate specialised installation machinery and truck‑mounted cranes
- Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and ready for use
Performance & Delivery
- Complete work to Northpower, customer, and regulatory standards
- Meet productivity targets and contribute to team performance
- Identify and solve problems quickly and effectively
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate openly with teammates, supervisors, clients, and suppliers
- Contribute to positive team culture and uphold Northpower PRIDE values
- Deliver high‑quality customer experiences
Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements to safety systems, work practices, or procedures
- Actively participate in your own development
Health, Safety & Environment

Care of Equipment
- Keep all tools, PPE, and equipment clean, compliant, and used for the correct purpose
- Ensure company vehicles are equipped and maintained
About you
We’re looking for someone who brings a strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to safety. You will have:
- Full Class 2 licence
- Class 4, 5 and/or WTR endorsements (an advantage, not essential)
- Truck Loader crane US16617 (an advantage not essential)
- Experience in labouring, construction, or civil works
- Comfortable with heavy lifting, digging, and manual tasks
- Ability to read and understand obstruction plans
- Good communicator with a safety‑first attitude
- Excellent safety record
- Good verbal and written communication skills
