Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We have an exciting 6 month fixed-term opportunity, to own and lead end-to-end delivery of BNZ’s website modernisation programme, ensuring outcomes are realised across customer experience, marketing effectiveness, technology modernisation, and financial value.

You’ll be accountable for delivery across BNZ teams and delivery partners, ensuring pace, transparency, governance, and risk control across all project phases.

What are the key day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Lead the delivery of our website modernisation programme, owning outcomes, milestones, and dependencies across all workstreams.
  • Develop clear, sequenced delivery plans, and ensure delivery remains aligned to BNZ’s target state digital and architecture strategy.
  • Act as BNZ’s senior operational lead across internal teams and delivery partners, ensuring clear accountability and ways of working.
  • Own programme governance, including investment tracking, RAID management, dependency management, and formal reporting to sponsors and senior stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and manage deliver, change, and technology risks.
  • Manage programme financials, including forecasting, burn tracking, and variance management, and provide transparency of actuals vs. forecast.
  • Ensure analytics and measurement approaches are embedded to track performance over time.

What attributes will you need to be successful in this role?

We’re looking for an experienced leader that has delivered large, complex digital or technology programmes, ideally across multi-year roadmaps, and within a highly complex & regulated business. You’ll demonstrate previous experience in a project or programme management, where you have successfully managed stakeholders and achieved outcomes. You will bring:

  • Strong capability in Agile delivery planning, programme governance, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated success working with onshore and offshore delivery partners.
  • Excellent stakeholder leadership skills, with confidence operating at Executive and Director level.
  • Ability to balance pace, risk management, and quality in a fast-moving digital environment
  • Formal project or programme management accreditation.
