Role context

This role sits within the Environment Group and plays a key part in strengthening how Transpower manages environmental systems, processes and data.

You’ll work across environmental strategy, systems and operational delivery — helping ensure environmental risks are well managed, compliance requirements are met, and decision making is supported by clear and reliable information.

You’ll partner with people across the business to understand needs, design workable solutions, and deliver improvements that are consistent, scalable and fit for purpose.

About The Team

The Environmental Systems & Strategies team sits within the Environment Group, part of External Affairs. The team provides leadership and coordination across environmental systems, processes and data to support consistent, effective and compliant environmental management across Transpower.

The team provides leadership and coordination across:

  • Environmental systems and workflows
  • Process design and standardisation
  • Reporting and analytics capability
  • Environmental strategy and policy support

You’ll work with teams across Environment, IST, Grid Delivery and Development, as well as external providers and system vendors.

The opportunity

As Senior Business Analyst – Environmental Systems & Strategies, you will lead analysis and improvement work that strengthens environmental capability across Transpower.

You’ll work with a high level of autonomy, taking initiatives from problem definition through to implementation and benefits realisation, while supporting informed decision making along the way.

The work you’ll be involved in includes:

  • Leading end-to-end analysis of environmental systems and processes, from discovery through to implementation and adoption
  • Designing future-state workflows that improve consistency, scalability and compliance assurance
  • Translating business needs into clear system, reporting and integration requirements
  • Supporting the development and rollout of environmental systems, including consent and compliance tools
  • Enhancing reporting and analytics to improve operational visibility and decision making
  • Identifying risks, inefficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Facilitating workshops to align stakeholders and progress decisions
  • Supporting benefits tracking to ensure improvements deliver measurable outcomes
  • Contributing to business analysis practice and ways of working across Transpower

What will you bring?

You’ll bring experience in business analysis or a related discipline, along with the ability to work across complex systems, processes and stakeholder environments.

You’ll be comfortable working through ambiguity, understanding underlying problems and translating them into practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. You can engage a range of stakeholders, clarify needs, and communicate insights clearly to support effective decision making.

You don’t need to meet every requirement listed — if you bring relevant skills and experience, and a willingness to learn, we’d like to hear from you.

Skills and experience we’ll assess (please provide examples):

  • Experience leading or contributing to complex analysis initiatives
  • Ability to understand business problems and translate them into practical solutions
  • Experience with process mapping, requirements gathering or problem-solving techniques
  • Experience working with delivery teams across design, build, test or implementation
  • Ability to engage a range of stakeholders to clarify needs and support decisions
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in complex, changing or regulated environments

What’s advantageous but not essential

  • Experience with systems, workflows or reporting in infrastructure, environmental or regulated settings
  • Experience working with data, reporting or analytics
  • Familiarity with change, adoption or benefits realisation approaches
  • Exposure to environmental, sustainability or compliance-related work
