Mō te tūranga | About the role

Group Financial Reporting provides trusted, timely and insightful financial information that supports sound decision‑making across ASB — from our Board and Executive Leadership Team to regulators and stakeholders.

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Group Reporting to lead our statutory and regulatory reporting, strengthen our control environment, and continue building capability across the team.

This is a senior leadership role with real impact, suited to someone who enjoys navigating complexity, influencing at executive and board level, and setting high standards for financial reporting across the ASB Group.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of regulatory reporting for the ASB Group, ensuring all RBNZ requirements are met with accuracy, timeliness and strong control discipline. This will be a core focus of the role for at least the first 12 months.
  • Support the Head of Group Financial Reporting in the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting, including both regulatory and statutory obligations.
  • Lead and oversee key aspects of group reporting, disclosure preparation and review, ensuring alignment with IFRS Accounting Standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance a strong and robust financial control environment, ensuring compliance with internal policies, governance standards and Conditions of Registration.
  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders across ASB and CBA to deliver regulatory reporting outcomes, recognising that these outputs reflect the performance and position of the entire bank.
  • Engage with external auditors and regulators, providing clear advice and trusted financial insight.
  • Provide high-quality analysis and commentary that explains business drivers, emerging issues and market impacts.
  • Contribute to the execution of the Financial Information & Tax strategy, including continuous improvement of reporting processes, systems and controls.
  • Support and develop people within the Group Financial Reporting team, fostering a high-performing, engaged and collaborative culture.
  • Lead and contribute to finance initiatives and projects, balancing BAU delivery with change and uplift activity.

Ō pūkenga | About you

  • Proven experience in RBNZ regulatory reporting, with a strong understanding of prudential requirements and expectations within a New Zealand banking environment.
  • Deep understanding of banking products and how they translate into financial and regulatory reporting outcomes.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multiple business units to deliver complex, bank-wide reporting requirements.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, with a deep understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience working in banking, financial services or a complex regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and competing priorities, while delivering to tight deadlines.
  • A high level of attention to detail, balanced with the ability to step back and focus on material outcomes.
  • Experience leading, coaching or mentoring others, with a genuine commitment to building capability and engagement.
  • Clear, concise and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • CA or equivalent professional qualification.
