About The Role

At Skills Group, we’re on a mission to build talent and prepare a future-fit workforce. We’re looking for a Technical Advisor - Electrical to provide technical advice and quality oversight across our electrical learning resources and course content. This is a permanent, full-time position, open to applicants across New Zealand. Auckland-based candidates would be based at our Highbrook campus, with hybrid working options available.

You’ll work closely with instructional designers, tutors, assessors, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure all resources are technically accurate, industry-aligned, and fit for delivery across a range of learning environments including block courses, virtual delivery, and night classes.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail who enjoys collaboration, values feedback, and takes pride in producing high-quality resources that support learner success.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide technical expertise across electrical learning resources and course content
  • Facilitate working groups and review cycles with tutors, SMEs, and internal stakeholders
  • Support instructional designers with technical guidance, industry standards, and workplace best practice
  • Review and maintain learning resources to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and relevance
  • Manage resource feedback, prioritise updates, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build collaborative relationships across programme, delivery, and assessment teams to support high-quality learning outcomes

Desired Skills And Experience

What you’ll bring

  • Registered electrician with strong current knowledge of NZ electrical standards, regulations, and industry practice (Inspector’s licence highly desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence making final decisions on technical accuracy and resource quality
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead collaborative review discussions and working groups
  • Open, collaborative approach with the ability to receive feedback and work constructively with others
  • Experience in vocational education, training delivery, curriculum development, or resource review is desirable, however candidates from industry backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, feedback cycles, and stakeholder expectations
