Senior Accountant

Archway Recruitment

Archway Recruitment is partnering with a large, complex and asset‑intensive organisation to recruit a Senior Accountant. This is a substantial, hands‑on role sitting at the centre of the finance function, offering genuine ownership of group accounting and reporting. This opportunity will appeal to someone who enjoys technical depth, system ownership and pulling complex groups together, while also partnering with stakeholders across the business.

The Role

Responsibilities

This is a broad senior accounting position with clear ownership at group level. Sitting above entity‑level accounting, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality and timeliness of group financial reporting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Group consolidations and month‑end reporting across multiple entities
  • Preparation and review of consolidated group financial statements
  • Leading year‑end statutory reporting and audit processes
  • Group‑level tax compliance, working with external tax advisors
  • Lender and debt reporting, including interest and covenant reporting
  • Coordinating group budgets and forecasts
  • Acting as the finance system owner and subject matter expert for the group ERP
  • Managing relationships with system vendors, auditors and advisors
  • Providing insight, analysis and guidance to stakeholders across the business
  • Driving continuous improvement across reporting, systems and finance processes

About You

Role

This role is open‑minded in profile and could suit either an ambitious senior accountant ready to step into group ownership, or a career accountant who enjoys being a technical expert in a complex environment. You will ideally bring:

  • CA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Ideally solid experience with group consolidations and complex reporting, or an understanding of the theory behind it (ie audited similar environments!).
  • Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge
  • Confidence working with auditors, advisors and non‑finance stakeholders
  • Systems capability, ideally with exposure to large or complex ERPs
  • A collaborative, pragmatic style with strong attention to detail

The Benefits

In Return, This Organisation Offers

  • Exposure to a large, complex New Zealand group with national operations
  • Full health insurance cover and access to wellbeing support.
  • Access to staff discounts on products and services.
  • Free staff car parking
  • Hybrid working arrangements once established in the role
