Senior Life and Investment Adviser

MAS - Medical Assurance Society

At MAS, we help professionals and their families make confident financial decisions - protecting what matters today and planning for the future. As a mutual, we're owned by our Members, which means everything we do is guided by long term value and trust.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Life and Investment Adviser to join our Distribution team in Christchurch, supporting Members across the city with high quality, personal advice across life, disability and investment solutions.

The role

As a senior adviser, you'll act as a trusted partner to Members, providing tailored advice that reflects their personal circumstances, financial goals and stages of life. You'll take a long term view, ensuring advice remains appropriate over time while building strong, enduring relationships.

You'll also bring sound commercial judgement and business acumen - understanding MAS's mutual structure and shareholder responsibilities - and contribute to the growth of Membership through referrals, education and meaningful community engagement.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering personalised advice across Life, Disability, KiwiSaver and retirement planning
  • Completing regular reviews to ensure advice and cover remain fit for purpose
  • Building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with Members and prospective Members
  • Applying sound commercial judgement aligned with MAS's shareholder and mutual obligations
  • Identifying opportunities to grow Membership through referrals, education and networking
  • Maintaining accurate advice documentation in line with regulatory and MAS standards
  • Sharing knowledge and mentoring other advisers as a senior member of the advice team

What we're looking for

  • 4-5 years' experience in Life and Disability insurance and financial advice
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal insurance products and advice frameworks
  • Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of shareholder and member outcomes
  • New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5), or willingness to complete
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • A professional, member first approach with a focus on quality and long-term outcomes

Why MAS?

  • Be part of a purpose driven, New Zealand owned mutual
  • Enjoy meaningful, face to face relationships with Members
  • Work within a supportive, collaborative advice community
  • Make a genuine impact on Members' financial wellbeing and future security
  • At MAS, we're proud to be in it together, focused on making a difference, and committed to delivering enduring value for our Members.

Ready to make a difference? We'd love to hear from you.
