About The Role

Thanks to the continued growth of the Wellington region and a great demand for construction projects, we have an opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join our fast-growing Wellington business. This is a perfect role for an accomplished Estimator to provide value right from the get-go.

The key areas of focus in this role will be your employment in ECI projects. You will be in contact with clients and all other parties involved in the process. You will also work to effectively and timely deliver cost estimates for the acquisition of new construction projects; building key customer relationships and supporting business development; and developing relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers to support the negotiation of preferred rates within the tender process.

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this role you'll need to have a minimum of 10 years experience working as an Estimator on commercial construction projects. You'll need to know the New Zealand construction market and be comfortable in a team environment. Experience working for the main contractor is preferable but not a prerequisite.

You'll Also Need

  • A relevant degree or diploma (e.g. Quantity Surveying or an Engineering related discipline)
  • Solid knowledge of construction methodology, including the ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Sound experience in measurement and rating of direct trades, specifically concrete and carpentry
  • The ability to analyse different quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and assess subcontractor tags
  • An awareness of price trends and appreciation of data confidentiality
  • Sound working knowledge of New Zealand contract law advantageous
  • Excellent computer skills. Experience with CostX would be an advantage
  • Cost planning experience
