We’re looking for an experienced Line Mechanic / Team Leader to join our Matamata team delivering construction, maintenance and fault-response work across the electricity distribution network.
In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll lead crews in the field, ensure work is completed safely and efficiently, and support the delivery of high-quality outcomes for our clients and communities. You’ll be involved in a variety of network projects, fault response activities and maintenance work while building strong relationships with internal teams, subcontractors and the public.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys technical field work, problem-solving and leading from the front in a supportive, high-performing team environment.

You’re a skilled and safety-focused Line Mechanic who brings strong industry experience, a proactive attitude and the ability to lead teams in the field. You’re confident working independently, can adapt under pressure, and are committed to achieving high standards in both safety and performance.
Essential
- Relevant Line Mechanic Registration and current practising licence
- NZQA Level 4 qualification
- Current Class 1 driver’s licence
- Strong knowledge of SMEI and safe low voltage electrical work practices
- Demonstrated commitment to Zero Harm and safe work practices
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to complete SWMS and JSEAs
- Ability to lead by example and mentor team members on-site
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to faults efficiently High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capability
Desirable
- Previous leadership or crew supervision experience
- Glove & Barrier (G&B) qualification
- Heavy trade licence Extensive industry-related experience
