Downer's Coromandel Energy & Utilities team is growing, and we're looking for both Line Mechanics ready to step into Glove & Barrier (G&B) work and experienced G&B/live‑line specialists wanting strong long‑term earning potential and a solid crew culture.

Work alongside skilled teams delivering overhead and underground maintenance, construction and reactive fault response, hands‑on, varied work that keeps local networks reliable.

Whether you're building your G&B capability or already operating at a specialist level, you'll be backed with structured development, mentoring and progression across our Coromandel, Paeroa and Matamata depots. You'll earn well, enjoy guaranteed hours, penal rates and roster pay, and be part of a team that genuinely supports your growth.

We want motivated, safety‑focused Line Mechanics who are either ready to specialise or already bring advanced live-line skills. If you have G&B, live-line or advanced distribution experience, we encourage you to apply. Your expertise is valuable, and we have pathways that recognise it!

You will bring:

  • EWRB Line Mechanic Registration or Distribution Line Mechanic qualification
  • Experience in overhead and/or underground distribution networks
  • At least two years' post‑qualification experience
  • A commitment to Zero Harm and proven safe practice
  • Strong communication and teamwork
  • Physical fitness and confidence working outdoors and at heights

You'll live within our wider service areas (Tokoroa, Putaruru, Matamata, Morrinsville, Paeroa, Whitianga, Coromandel or Whangamatā) and participate in a rotating first‑response fault roster.
