Mo te tūranga | About the Role

We're looking for a passionate and curious Data Scientist to join our Pricing team within the Data Science & AI practice. In this role, you'll work hand-in-hand with Senior Pricing Strategy Managers to design and implement data-driven pricing strategies across ASB's Personal Banking product suite. You'll bring analytical rigour and machine learning expertise to the full pricing lifecycle — from building and maintaining sophisticated pricing models and tools, to surfacing actionable insights through advanced reporting and dashboards. Beyond the day-to-day, you'll play a key role in shaping how ASB uses data and AI to make smarter, fairer pricing decisions for our customers — and you'll have the tools, the team, and the leadership support to do it well.

• Proficiency in Python and/or R, with a strong understanding of good coding standards and software engineering best practices
• Strong SQL skills — able to write, optimise, and troubleshoot complex queries to extract and transform data from large-scale data platforms
• Hands-on experience with Power BI and/or Tableau, building and maintaining dashboards that surface pricing performance and customer behaviour insights
• Familiarity with Git for version control, branching, and collaborative code management in a data science workflow
• Exposure to modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or dbt — comfortable working in cloud-native environments
• Awareness of MLOps principles and Machine Learning Engineering practices, with an understanding of what it takes to support and maintain models in production
