Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Transport Planner for our Development Planning team. Our Development Planning team provides and manages specialist technical transport advice into the review of development proposals that shape land use change and growth in Auckland and allow access to the activities which people undertake to meet broader quality of life objectives.
Key tasks will include:
- Providing a comprehensive technical transport specialist response on complex resource consent applications, while collaboratively working with multi-disciplinary teams across Auckland Transport, Auckland Council and stakeholders.
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal business units, Auckland Council and customers.
- Mentoring, coaching and facilitating the development of less experienced team members and sharing your technical knowledge and expertise across workstreams.

As a seasoned professional, you will bring significant experience within large scale, complex performance driven organizations.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in case management or issue resolution.
- Experience in contentious or regulatory environments is desirable.
- Strong judgement, political acumen, and resilience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex issues with discretion.
- Knowledge of local government law and privacy legislation.
- Technological literacy and analytical problem-solving skills.
