Te Tūranga | The role

This is a newly created leadership role and function within Business Banking Product Management. As a Business Lead – Business Banking Product you will lead a team of product solutions management professionals skilled in business analysis & requirements gathering, delivering solutions for Business and Corporate Banking products, working across remediations, complex regulatory change and product risk management.

This role operates at the intersection of product management, risk, and delivery, ensuring product solutions deliver against risk, regulatory, customer and commercial outcomes for Business and Corporate banking products. Your primary accountability is to care for, develop, and enable your people, while ensuring consistently high-quality analysis & requirements delivery for product solutions. At the same time, you will act as a senior practitioner and escalation point, ensuring analysis and requirements are pragmatic, traceable, and fit for purpose.

You will work closely with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Remediation, Delivery leaders and Business & Corporate Banking product managers to ensure your team is supported, well-deployed and contributing to outcomes that matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and care for a team of professionals skilled in business analysis and requirements gathering, with a strong focus on wellbeing, engagement, and performance.
  • Build a safe, supportive environment for people working in high-pressure remediation and regulatory change.
  • Set clear expectations for product solutions, analysis and requirements quality, particularly in remediation and enabling change contexts.
  • Provide end-to-end oversight of work across the portfolio, maintaining visibility of priorities, dependencies, risks, and progress to ensure coordinated, high-quality outcomes across Business and Corporate Banking products.
  • Act as an escalation point for requirements and delivery risks, ensuring appropriate resolution and escalation at forums.
  • Partner with Delivery, Technology, Risk, Remediation, Compliance and Business/Corporate Banking product managers to align priorities and manage demand.
  • Support sustainable resourcing and workload management across initiatives.
  • Identify capability gaps and drive coaching, mentoring, and development initiatives.
  • Embed consistent practices, standards, and ways of working, uplifting capability and consistency across the team.
  • Represent the team with senior leaders, advocating for quality, integrity, and realistic delivery expectations.

  • You are an experienced people leader with a strong background in business analysis (8+ years), ideally within complex or regulated environments and have experience working in or with banking product management teams.
  • You care deeply about developing people and creating conditions where they can do their best work, even when the work is difficult.
  • You bring credibility, calmness and pragmatism, understanding the realities of remediation, risk and regulatory change, and balancing rigour with momentum.
  • You are comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and executives and are confident holding the line on quality and sustainability when needed.
  • You’re equally at home coaching individuals, navigating delivery pressure, and getting into the detail when required.

You’ll Succeed In This Role If You

  • Can demonstrate significant experience (8+ years) in business analysis and people leadership and have experience working in or with product management teams.
  • Lead with empathy, clarity, and consistency, creating stability and enabling strong team performance in high-pressure, remediation and change environments.
  • Bring deep expertise in structured problem definition, requirements management, and traceability.
  • Bring expert communication skills, authentically connecting and engaging with teams while confidently influencing senior stakeholders and decision-making.
  • Balance strategic thinking with hands-on support when it matters
  • Care about quality, integrity, and doing the right thing for our customers, not just getting things done
