Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has supported quality early childhood education across Tāmaki Makaurau since 1908. With 112 kindergartens, four KiNZ centres, and extensive support services, we are committed to providing safe, enriching, bicultural learning environments guided by Te Whāriki and focused on the wellbeing of tamariki, whānau and community.

About Māngere West Kindergarten

Māngere West Kindergarten has been a valued part of the local community for many years and proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. We are a welcoming and inclusive kindergarten where whānau feel a strong sense of belonging, and tamariki are supported by an experienced, fully qualified team of kaiako. Our kaiako are creative, dedicated, and deeply committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for every child.

Our programme is grounded in Tamariki strengths and interests, supported by a rich range of engaging resources cultural and nature-based puzzles, open-ended materials, art and craft experiences, and musical instruments that foster creativity, problem-solving and self-expression.

Whānau are valued as partners in learning. We welcome parent involvement in daily life at the kindergarten and work together through conversations, shared planning and Storypark to support each child’s progress.

Our close relationship with Viscount Primary School helps to ensure smooth transitions for tamariki moving to ‘big school’, with strong connections between kaiako teams and a shared commitment to supporting confident, capable learners.

The Role

We are seeking a part time 27.5 hours registered and certificated ECE Kaiako to join our team. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a highly engaged, community-focused kindergarten and experience the wider mahi of the AKA.

You will work collaboratively within a supportive team, bringing strong bicultural practice, commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and confidence in using ICT to enhance teaching and learning. Your ability to build warm, trusting relationships with tamariki, whānau and colleagues will be central to your success.
