Procurement Officer (Maternity Cover)

The Materials and Management Department (MMD) is seeking Procurement Officer who will be based at the Pacific Area Office in Auckland. Reporting to the Area Purchasing Manager, this is a fixed-term full-time position covering for an incumbent while on maternity leave with an approximate period from 15 June 2026 to 5 Feb 2027.
This role supports the mission of the Church by administering purchasing activities within an assigned area. This assists with negotiating and documenting contracts, sourcing goods and services, and achieving best‑value outcomes. Working closely with internal requesters and suppliers, the role provides general procurement support while upholding strong service, integrity, and ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Process assigned purchasing requests, including basic price and vendor analysis to ensure timely and accurate delivery
- Source goods and services, resolve routine issues and expedite orders as required
- Provide customer service and build positive relationships with suppliers and internal partners
- Complete assigned special projects under direction of supervisor
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Foundational understanding of procurement activities, including basic price analysis, vendor review, and order follow‑up
- Strong customer service skills with ability to build positive and respectful relationships with suppliers and internal partners
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness
- High standards of integrity, honesty, and ethical behaviour aligned with Church values
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies
- Proof of legal right to work in New Zealand
- A police background check may be required
