Are you a motivated leader with strong commercial acumen and a passion for delivering high-quality paving outcomes? We're looking for a Paving Contracts Manager to join our team and drive performance across a diverse portfolio of contracts in the Auckland and Northland region.

As a Paving Contracts Manager, you'll take ownership of operational delivery, financial performance, and team leadership across multiple paving projects. Working closely with engineers, supervisors, and clients, you'll ensure contracts are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You'll play a key role in leading frontline teams, collaborating on daily planning, and optimising resources to achieve operational and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

Contract & Financial Management

  • Deliver projects in line with budgets and forecasted margins
  • Prepare financial forecasts, monthly reporting, and claims
  • Pre- and post-cost projects to evaluate performance
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and timely payment collection

Operational Delivery

  • Oversee project planning, site scoping, and methodology development
  • Ensure work is delivered to specification, on time, and with minimal rework
  • Manage contractual obligations and variations

Resource & Plant Management

  • Allocate people, plant, and resources effectively
  • Maximise utilisation of plant and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with pre-start and operational requirements

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams
  • Conduct regular performance and development reviews
  • Build capability and succession within your team
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and positive work environment

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Anticipate and resolve issues to maintain exceptional service delivery

Safety & Sustainability

  • Champion a strong Zero Harm culture
  • Lead safety initiatives, site observations, and risk management
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental standards

You're a confident and commercially savvy leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to safety and excellence.

What You'll Bring

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt specifications (M10:2020)
  • Solid understanding of NZS 3910 (or similar contract frameworks)
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in paving operations/project management
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, plant, and delivery outcomes
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L and reporting
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full, current driver's licence
