The Regulatory and Identity Services Taituara branch shapes systems and services that touch almost every New Zealander. Within this, the Regulatory Services Group has oversight of three significant regulatory systems - Anti'Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), Gambling, and Charities.

The role | Te tunga

Reporting to the Deputy Director AML/CFT - Banking, this Senior Regulator will play a key role in supervising Banking entities and ensuring compliance with AML/CFT obligations.

Working as part of the AML/CFT team, you will manage regulatory relationships with assigned Banks, undertake inspections and assessments, and provide clear, evidence'based advice on compliance. You will contribute to strengthening regulatory practice, supporting implementation of AML/CFT priorities, and improving understanding of financial crime risks across the sector.

This is a varied and impactful role, combining technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory delivery.

What you bring | Nou te rourou

  • Experience in AML/CFT supervision, compliance, financial services, or regulatory environments
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex scenarios and provide clear advice
  • Understanding of AML/CFT requirements (NZ or international) and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement and attention to detail
