The company

Bostock New Zealand is one of the country’s leading growers and the largest organic apple producer, with a proud history of sustainable growing practices. Based in Hawke’s Bay, we’ve been exporting premium produce for over 30 years.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Export Accountant to join our Finance team on an 18-month fixed-term maternity leave cover contract, supporting our export operations and grower payment programme.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you’ll collaborate with internal teams, growers, suppliers, and customers to ensure export sales are correctly accounted for, growers are paid accurately and on time, and all associated costs are captured and recovered in line with supply agreements.

You’ll provide reporting and analysis to support export operations, process grower payments and returns, maintain grower databases and cost recovery structures, complete reconciliations, and assist with cashflow forecasting and trade finance activities.

You will also support month-end and year-end processes, intercompany reconciliations, management reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across systems and processes.

The essential skills and experience for growing success:

  • Previous accounting experience within a commercial export environment (ideally apple or primary produce)
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger processes
  • Experience with foreign currency transactions would be advantageous
  • Experience with Snapsales export software would be beneficial
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Process-oriented with a logical and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across the business
