ProCare's Comprehensive Primary and Community care Teams (CPCT) model has been successfully operating for almost 2 years. This initiative integrates allied health professionals into general practice teams to improve equity, reduce barriers to care, and support our most at-risk communities. The programme provides free access for patients to a range of services, easing pressure on GPs and enabling holistic, whānau-focused care.

About The Role

The primary purpose of this position is to deliver front-line assessment and care as an integral member of the general practice interdisciplinary team. You'll work closely with GPs, nurses, and the wider team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that supports hospital avoidance and improves community health outcomes.

We're seeking an Extended Care Paramedic to join our team at Bakersfield Medical and Urgent Care Centre. This is a 1 FTE role, negotiable for the right candidate, offering the opportunity to make a real impact in an innovative model of care.

The CPCT Extended Care Paramedic Duties Will Include

  • Telephone triage and telehealth consultations
  • Face-to-face clinical assessments
  • Issuing medications under standing orders
  • Ordering lab tests and x-rays (under GP name)
  • Suturing and wound management
  • Support access across Urgent Care and booked appointments

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Health Science in Paramedicine
  • Current registration and APC with Te Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council
  • Postgraduate study in paramedicine (or working towards it)
  • Strong cultural competency and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Excellent clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice skills
