About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Resource Consents Planner to join us in a permanent full-time position.

This opportunity is suited to a capable and confident planner with at least 5 years’ New Zealand planning experience who can hit the ground running managing resource consent applications across a wide range of projects.

Our work spans rural, urban, and coastal developments throughout Auckland and Northland, with opportunities to work across a broad range of planning projects including resource consents, plan changes and structure planning.

This is primarily an office-based role that values collaboration and team connection, with hybrid flexibility available.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and managing resource consent applications across a range of developments and land use projects
  • Providing clear, practical planning advice aligned with client and project objectives
  • Preparing planning assessments and supporting documentation
  • Managing pre-application meetings and council liaison
  • Responding to submissions and participating in hearings or mediation where required
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, councils, and stakeholders
  • Managing projects efficiently and delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Staying up to date with planning legislation, policy, and industry best practice

About you

You’ll bring:

  • A qualification in Resource Management Planning or Planning recognised by NZPI
  • Minimum 5+ years’ planning and resource consenting experience in New Zealand
  • Strong working knowledge of the RMA and New Zealand planning processes
  • Proven experience independently managing resource consent applications
  • Confidence working directly with clients, councils, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused, and organised approach
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
