Mō Te Tūranga | About The Role
This is a full-cycle commercial role where you'll own the customer from first conversation to long-term partner. That means prospecting and closing new business, then staying close to those accounts to drive adoption, uncover growth opportunities, and make sure customers are genuinely getting value from ZEIL.
It's not a narrow BDR role and it's not a narrow CSM role. It's the whole thing, which is what makes it exciting. You'll be joining a business that's growing quickly, building process as we go, and looking for someone who's energised by that rather than unsettled by it. We're not looking for someone who's done this for a decade. We're looking for someone sharp, commercially curious, and hungry to build something. This is a founding-team-style role. You'll help shape how we sell, not just execute a playbook.
What You'll Do
New business
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities across ZEIL's target customer segments
- Run the full sales process from outreach and qualification through to proposal and close
- Build and manage your pipeline, keeping it honest and well-maintained in HubSpot
- Contribute to forecasting and planning conversations with the team
Account growth & customer success
- Own the onboarding experience for customers you close and set them up for success from day one
- Stay close to your accounts, checking in proactively and looking for opportunities to deepen the relationship
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities as accounts grow
- Be the voice of the customer internally, flagging what you're hearing from the market to help shape how we evolve
Ways of working
- Track your own performance against clear KPIs: pipeline created, deals closed, retention, and account health
- Work cross-functionally with marketing and product as needed, flagging trends, contribute ideas, help us stay close to what customers need
What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
By the end of month one:
- You know our product, our customers, and our competitive landscape cold
- You've shadowed the team and started building your own pipeline
- You understand how we measure success and what good looks like
By the end of month three:
- You've closed your first deals and have accounts you own end-to-end
- You're running your pipeline independently and hitting activity targets
- You've contributed at least one meaningful insight from the field back to the team
What We're Looking For
- We care more about aptitude and drive than a specific number of years on a CV. That said, here's what will set you up for success in this role:
- Some commercial experience, whether in BD, account management, recruitment, customer success, or a customer-facing role in a fast-moving environment
- Genuine curiosity about how businesses work and how you can help them get more value from a product
- Comfort with ambiguity. You don't need a perfect playbook to get started, and you're good at figuring things out as you go
- Strong communicator who can explain things clearly, listen well, and build trust quickly
- Data-aware: you pay attention to what the numbers are telling you and use them to prioritise
- A bias toward action. You'd rather try something and learn than wait for it to be perfect
- Experience in SaaS, recruitment tech, or a high-growth startup is a bonus, not a requirement.
