Clinical Nurse Educator - Waipuna Hospice
Te Puna/Tauranga, 40hrs per week
High performing and energetic team with an opportunity to develop in leadership
Empower others to grow and develop their skills and knowledge
At Waipuna Hospice, we are passionate about championing compassionate and equitable end-of-life care across Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty. As a specialist palliative care service, we provide responsive, person and whānau-centred care for people living with life-limiting illness, while working alongside healthcare providers and community partners to strengthen palliative care capability and access across our communities.
Whether supporting people in their homes, in clinics, or in our inpatient unit, we tailor our services to individual needs, promoting dignity, comfort, connection, and quality of life throughout their journey.
Our holistic approach includes nursing and medical care, counselling, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, equipment support, respite care, carer education, companion volunteers, and more. Through funding from Te Whatu Ora, the generosity of our community, and the dedication of our fundraising teams and charity shops, we are able to provide these services free of charge at the point of care.
We are building a high performing and values-driven organisation committed to continuous learning, collaboration, sustainability, and innovation in palliative and end-of-life care. Through strong partnerships, education, and clinical leadership, we are helping shape an integrated palliative care ecosystem with greater reach and impact across communities.
At Waipuna Hospice, we believe everyone deserves compassionate end-of-life care, and we are committed to helping lead and strengthen this care for current and future generations.
About The Job
This role contributes to equipping and empowering internal and external providers, community carers, and whānau to deliver equitable end-of-life care, supporting the needs of people and families now while helping safeguard the wellbeing of future generations.
As a Clinical Nurse Educator at Waipuna Hospice, you will play a key role in strengthening the capability of our nursing and clinical workforce and advancing excellence in palliative and end-of-life care. You will contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality palliative care education across the organisation, including leading mandatory training, supporting the orientation of new nursing and clinical staff, and actively supporting our Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP). The role also extends beyond hospice services, supporting education and clinical partnership across the wider health system to strengthen palliative care capability across communities.
