The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealands cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, and provide cyber security services to all New Zealanders from individuals and small businesses and organisations up to large enterprises, government, and critical national infrastructure.

The role

We are on the lookout for a System Admin/Engineer with Splunk experience to join our specialised, supportive team based in Blenheim!

The role is key to the operational support of Linux and Windows environments and works across the full spectrum from physical devices, virtualisation, operating systems and application support.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic, adaptable and enjoys a challenge. You'll understand the need for policy and processes and have a process improvement mindset.

Level 1

  • At least 3 years' relevant experience in the computing or IT industry
    • Backup and recovery management
    • Equipment installation
    • Virtualisation technologies
  • Computer scripting skills would be a bonus!

Level 2

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the computing or IT industry
    • Virtualisation technologies
    • Backup and recovery management
    • Equipment installation
    • Active Directory/LDAP
    • DNS
    • Scripting
    • Understanding of Databases and Certificates

The appointment range for this position is

  • Level 1 $87,048 - $92,852
  • Level 2 $103,009 - $109,876

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
