Senior SAP ABAP Developer (RAP & BTP)

The Opportunity

I am seeking an experienced Senior SAP ABAP Developer for a 9-month contract in Auckland. This role is perfect for a developer who excels in modern SAP landscapes, specifically moving between S/4HANA, SAP CRM, and SAP BTP. You will be responsible for leading technical designs, conducting rigorous code reviews, and mentoring other developers within an Agile delivery framework.

  • Focus: Modern ABAP development, RAP, and BTP extensions.

What You’ll Do

  • Technical Leadership: Lead technical design initiatives and provide mentorship to the wider development team.
  • Modern Development: Build and maintain extensions using the ABAP Cloud development model and RAP.
  • Integration & APIs: Manage complex SAP integrations including IDocs, BAPIs, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Performance & Quality: Drive code quality through TDD, performance tuning, and adherence to SAP best practices.
  • Frontend Delivery: Develop and optimize SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 experiences and OData services.

Technical Profile

  • ABAP Mastery: Extensive experience with ABAP (including ABAP OO) across SAP CRM and S/4HANA.
  • Modern SAP Stack: Hands-on experience with RAP, SAP BTP-based extensions, and the ABAP Cloud development model.
  • HANA Proficiency: Expertise in SAP HANA platform development, including AMDP and SQLScript.
  • Functional Knowledge: A solid understanding of core modules such as FI/CO, MM, or SD.
  • Agile Mindset: Comfortable delivering high-quality code in fast-paced Agile environments.

Beneficial Skills

  • Experience with Neptune DXP.
  • Exposure to SAP Integration Suite or PI/PO.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and enterprise development governance.
