Te Tūranga – About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer in our Customer Domain Services team, you’ll work closely with the Technical Lead of your respective squad and will build and release micro-services that meet the highest quality standards, are easy to deploy, low on memory, start fast, scales well and almost never break.

To do this, some of what you’ll do is:

  • Implement business logic, domain, and data models to the microservices layer whilst taking a full set of architectural, business, and operational requirements into account.
  • Write high quality code that is accompanied by high-level of automated testing, performance, and health monitoring as well as comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of application portfolio to support optimal technical design decisions.
  • Provide feedback to other team members during design reviews, code reviews and during pairing and swarming activities.
  • Collaborate with DevOps team to ensure high-level of CI/CD automation.
  • Perform code reviews, application analysis, code modifications and functional testing to troubleshoot application production issues.

Please note application support, including participation in an on-call roster is required.

You’re an experienced software engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems that make a real difference. Having delivered software across the full lifecycle and in various settings (enterprise, medium sized businesses, start-ups or consulting, you’ll truly care deeply about clean architecture, writing maintainable code, and finding the right balance between innovation and practicality. You’re also collaborative, open to feedback, and keen to support others while continuing to grow your own skills.

You’ll Also Have

  • A bachelor's degree in a software development related subject.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in programming in the relevant languages such as NodeJs and Java Programming.
  • Proven experience in end to end, technical approaches including and targeting high maintainability, high scalability, easy develop-ability and operability.
  • Ability to apply the relevant subset and best out of any industry trend (or hype) to your own methodologies.
