Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We’re looking for confident, diligent drivers to join Auckland Transport as Parking Officers specialising as Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) Drivers.
In this role, you’ll spend your day driving a pre‑determined route through residential areas or town centres. Using a camera system attached to the vehicle, you’ll record parked vehicles for compliance purposes. The technology has been in place for over two years, is straightforward to use, and full training is provided.
You’ll complete training to become a warranted Parking Officer; however, your day‑to‑day role will sit within the dedicated LPR driving team.
This is a full‑time role (40 hours per week). Hours are standardised within a roster, typically between 8.00am and 6.00pm, with some weekend work required as rosters operate Monday to Sunday.

To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be a confident, diligent driver able to maintain consistent speeds on designated routes
- Hold a full, clean NZ driver licence, with safety as a top priority
- Be comfortable working independently and spending extended periods of time in a vehicle
