Behind every shower, coffee, sports field and fire hydrant is a team making sure the water keeps moving, and that's where you come in.
We're on the hunt for a motivated Water Serviceperson to join Downer's Dunedin crew. This isn't a sit-behind-a-desk kind of role. It's boots-on-the-ground, work where you'll tackle everything from watermain repairs and maintenance to construction and working on network upgrades that directly impact the community every single day.
One day you could be operating plant on-site, the next assembling pipes, fittings and testing the new pipelines You'll work alongside experienced crews, support critical infrastructure projects and help deliver safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes across Dunedin's water network.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in practical work has attention for detail and wants to be part of a team that genuinely keeps the city flowing.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering construction and maintenance works across Dunedin's water infrastructure network
- Operating plant and equipment safely and efficiently
- Tackling day-to-day tasks with a problem-solving mindset and strong attention to detail
- Supporting crews, supervisors and foremen to keep projects moving on time and to standard
- Completing site documentation, pre-starts and safety checks accurately
- Leading tasks or small crews when required
- Working closely with clients, residents and the public to ensure a positive experience
Mōu Koe | About you
You're the type of person who likes getting stuck in. You're practical, reliable and know how to work hard while looking out for your crew. You don't mind early starts, changing conditions or getting your hands dirty because that's where the real work happens.
You'll bring:
- Level 3 or 4 Water industry qualification
- Experience in construction, civil, utilities or infrastructure work
- Minimum Class 1 with Heavey vehicle licences and WTR endorsements preferable
- Confidence operating plant and equipment safely
- A strong work ethic and team-first attitude
- Commitment to health, safety and doing things the right way
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with the public
- A sharp eye for detail and a practical mindset
- Plan to read skills (advantageous, but not essential)
