About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

Opportunities are available across several portfolio teams supporting services delivered nationwide.

As a Portfolio Advisor, you will work alongside Portfolio Managers and Supplier Managers to commission and optimise health and recovery services that achieve positive outcomes for injured New Zealanders.

In this role, you will provide operational and strategic input across the full-service delivery lifecycle, supporting continuous improvement, contract and performance management, and strong stakeholder relationships.

You'll play a pivotal role in supporting service strategy, monitoring performance, driving service improvements, and working closely with internal teams and external providers to ensure services are effective, compliant, and responsive to the needs of clients and the wider health system.

Permanent Portfolio Advisor roles are available in the following portfolio teams:

  • Long Term Complex Care
  • Vocational Services
  • Allied Health

Fixed-term or inter-government agency secondment Portfolio Advisor roles are available in:

  • Transitional - through to March 2027
  • Long Term Complex Care - through to February 2027
  • Primary Care - through to April 2027
  • Acute (including ambulance) services - through to February 2027 (Wellington location preferred)

About you | Mōu

You will bring:

  • Experience preferred in service commissioning, service management, or operational policy within health, social services, or a complex system environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data and insights to inform decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to service improvement, change initiatives, or project-based work.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings and Board papers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • An understanding of, or commitment to equity, including applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi to ensure inclusive, culturally responsive services in the design and delivery of services.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.

The appointing salary for this role is $85,037 - $100,043 (based on experience) and we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance, and flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time.
